“Amazing country music,” that is the # 1 thing you could say about Kelly Mae. Coincidently from her hometown of Piedmont , Oklahoma , she has found her way to the stage and into the spotlight. Kelly has always had this indefinable love for music since she was three, when her parents caught her making up her own songs on long car rides. Even though Kelly was in Honors Vocal all throughout school she never pursued singing as a career, until her debut performance of “Earl’s Gotta Die” at Piedmont Founder’s Day celebration. Kelly began taking voice lessons from that point on, which was three years ago.
Along the way of what Kelly calls “big time” she has sang at many different places such as: Piedmont Founder’s Day and 4th of July celebration, Bob Funk’s Hee Haw, a CMT activity in Mustang, and last but not least multiple performances with the OCMA. This small list is just the beginning. Now at 18 years old, Kelly, has been a member of the OCMA for 2 years and has become a board member.
Kelly has tried out for Grant’s Rodeo Opry and Nashville Star. She is also a performer at the Oklahoma Opry. Last summer she participated in a local talent search called Oklahoma Idol and Kelly placed 10th out of 150 people. In her senior year of high school Kelly attended District, Tri-State, and State competitions, where she sang an Italian Arietta. She placed first in all competitions.
Recently Kelly has become more involved in the OCMA and is just now starting to “hit the pavement. “ She has started looking for anywhere to sing, the answer “no” to any performance opportunity is not in her dictionary. She plans to release her first CD in February of 2006 with high hopes.
In the years to come Kelly Mae plans to build her fan base even more and share her love for music with others. In two years she plans to move to Nashville to pursue her country music career. She will continue to sing anywhere she can.
